About Us
Elizabeth Fry Society Simcoe Muskoka is a not-for-profit and registered charity whose mission is to prevent and reduce homelessness, criminalization, racialization, and poverty by addressing systemic causes through advocacy and services in Simcoe County and the District Municipality of Muskoka. The organization envisions healthy, hopeful, and housed individuals living free from incarceration. Populations served include youth and adults in Simcoe County and Muskoka who are at risk of, or are experiencing homelessness and/or criminalization, with specialized expertise in service delivery designed for women, youth, and gender diverse individuals.
EFSSM has been providing services and supports to the Orillia and District Area for over 20 years through youth and adult diversion and youth Trusteeship supports. In a successful bid, EFSSM was entrusted to provide 24/7 on-site supportive services at the Rapid Rehousing Program, located at 175 West Street in Orillia. This initiative led to the launch of Ethen’s Place in the spring of 2024—a transformative short-term transitional housing program for youth aged 16 to 24 experiencing homelessness. Named in honor of the program’s first resident to secure permanent housing, Ethen’s Place has already made a tangible impact.
